I am needing to get my exhaust done sometime this week or weekend, and I went out and looked at it today. The downpipe from the turbo measures out at 1 3/4" pipe at the cat flange, and it just happens that my exhaust has been previously redone to be 1 3/4" pipe too! It was straight piped to a stock style muffler with only one flange right in front of the muffler.
I definitely want to add a flex pipe, and at my disposal is a 2" cherrybomb and a couple of OEM 03 Harley davidson softtail mufflers. The inlet measures 1 7/8" so either my current pipe will slide right in or it will be close enough I can butt it up and weld it. Should work out pretty good.
The harley puts out about 70 horsepower and uses two mufflers, so I figure trying to cram twice the power worth of airflow through them will cause them to get a little loud.
I have to have the wideband @ 30" behind the turbo, the instructions say 24-36" but 30" is putting it between the firewall and steering rack @ a 15* angle, then a flex pipe for 1' which is exactly where the first hanger is supposed to hold it.
I don't know if I should use the cherrybomb as a midpipe to try to quiet it down, if I should just use one of the harley mufflers, or if I should Y pipe it at the flange and make it a dual exhaust at the rear axle?
What do you guys think? I really want to use the harley muffler(s?) because they have catalytic converters IN them and I don't know anybody else running harley mufflers on a festy even tho I know it's been done before.
