I saw this topic discussed a bit on clubprotege, and saw some promising info that this can be done.
They claim it can be done, you just need to have the B6D head, and headgasket (headgasket for the B6 sohc and B6D are different), they also claim you can swap a B6T head onto a first gen B6 as well, again as long as you use a B6T headgasket. (And of course all the usual stuff, like the intake, and exhaust stuff, ECU, VAF.)
Now I don't plan on doing this anytime soon, I mean I only just got the SOHC B6 dropped in a few days ago. (Thanks Zoom Zoom, and Safety Guy!)
I am just gauging future possibilities, I mean already got a 20hp bump from getting the b6, why not try for 25 more with a head swap?
Of course then I will be looking at swapping transmissions, and getting a stronger clutch.
