  • cable/hydro gear set from MFactory

    Can someone please confirm the gears will or will not interchange between the two. There is a group buy going on in another forum where MFactory is trying to build a 3rd 4t and 5th gear set capably of 500 hp They are going stock 3rd and 4th with a .730 5th. I want in on the buy as I will also get a 20% discount on the lsd at the same time. If all is good I will be the last person needed for the buy to happen. The gears will be available to the public after that. They are about a fifth the cost of a PAR set.

    this isn't a definite answer but i did look through the part #s for the turbo'd trans and NA trans. almost all the internal parts including the major gears have different part #s between them. the non turbo trans pieces are mostly F0JY prefix'd and the turbo'd parts are mostly E7GZ/E92Z.

        it just occurs to me (days later), do you mean the hydraulic trans from a 1.8L escort GT vs the capri 1.6L w/turbo cable trans? if so, then you might be in luck. i'm comparing those #s tonight.

          THAT would be awesome. Ferdi did my 5th gear plate mod and he said that part is the same as the hydro g in the escorts. Hot_Wheels talked with Ferdi and said all should be good just not the final drive. All I want is the 3, 4, and 5 sets anyway. It appears that the gear set they are working on will work with the Escort tranny. If so, and you can confirm, it would also appear that I am in luck. Thanks dude,

                i can confirm that 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th gears and 5th speed drive gear have identical part #s between the turbo capri transmission and the 1.8 escort trans. 4th is different. maybe a different ratio?

                  Is that the only thing that could be different? The ratio? Or is there another possibility? I mean if the 5th gear plate is the same and 4 of the 5 gears are the same, then the shafts are probably the same, so shouldn't the gears be the same other than Ratios? OK, now I am getting excited.

                    What is the difference then between the g5mr and the g25mr? The syncros and all the same, just a different final drive and bell housing?

                      From my experience the only differences I've seen with G series internals is that the newer G series have a thicker ring/pinion gears and there's different gear ratios

                      So in my opinion those Mfactory gearsets will work with your tranny, whether it be a B6T cable trans, BP hydro trans, Kia sephia trans, KL trans, 99ish escort ZX2 trans etc

                              ^x2 ive ran both hydro gears in a cable trans and cable gears in a hydro trans. everything inside the case is swapable
                              I know its a piece of crap but im still faster...and its 100% legal!!!!!
