  • What size exhaust for stock B6???

    Hey guys,

What diameter exhaust should I install for a stock B6 motor out of a 92 323? I want my festiva to get the best gas mileage possible with the B6. I plan on purchasing Stainless steel pipe and having it mandrel bent and welded. I plan on keeping the car for many years to come, since I have basically rebuilt the whole thing. I'm sure a few of you guys have crossed this bridge, so any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Joe

1.75"... thats what I plan to go with for my BP someday. But I guess I'll let the other guys that have actually had the time and money to do a custom exhaust answer this one.
    No festiva for me ATM...

alot of replacement exhuast systems for a "stock" festiva application are actully alot bigger pipe then factory, atleast on my festiva its alot bigger then the silly straw size for stock. this would work great with a b6.

I dont know if its walker, or any other brand.. it was on the car when i got it.

a 1.75 would be a good choice. On a stock B^ I wouldn't go any larger than 2in unless your planning some upgrades in the near future

I have 2.25" on my b6 w/header and flex joint.. should really be 2" or less for a B6 tho..

im pretty sure the exhuast on my festiva is 2" vs the stock 1.75" size, again you might want to check with a exhaust supplier, my exhuast definitly looks bigger then stock, but looks to be a off the shelf prebent system.

I'm leaning toward the 2" I just want to make sure I have enough backpressure in the system. I'll have a stainless catalytic converter welded in there as well. Thanks for all the replies guys, and if anyone else has an opinion please chime in hehehee. Now if I can only figure out why im blowing my main fuse.....hmmmm

I went with a 2" standard bend pipe with Magnaflow low restriction cat and muffler (both with 2" inlet/outlets). It seems to be doing well on my B6/ATX, with average mileage being around 30 to 35 mpg in moderate to hard driving.

I wanted to go with the stainless pipe, which I believe needs to be mandrel bent. That is good info Safetyguy. Have you had emissions done on that? Did you have any problems with the B6, as opposed to the B3? Thanks for the feedback by the way
