  • EFI to Carby kwestchun

Can you make an EFI motor into a carby one by just changing the fuel system? In other words, can you use the EFI ignition system with a carb, i.e. a Weber?

And just to confirm (stupid Alzheimer's!), you can slap a Festiva carby intake onto any EFI Festy or Aspire motor, correct?

I'm not sure about the coil. But, yes, yes, and yes. Are you thinking about joining the twin carb club? Sayonara ECU? I'll let you borrow my Crypton carb balancer.

I also have a couple of clean, tanked Festiva intakes I will get rid off just for the price of postage.
Be aware that the old Mazda B6 carb manifold had a better flow design and slightly larger diameter runners.

Actually, I'm thinking about using my Matt D. Aspire MPG cam w/Aspire head in a Festy carby. Properly jetted, the airflow would be more like an 1100cc motor, I'm thinking. Just want to see what kind of gas mileage I could get that way.

Or if someone is interested in buying my cam and installing it in their carby (using Aspire roller rockers), I would think about selling it.

Brave, I'm guessing you had B6 carbys in CA? Can you get hold of one or two of those manifolds? I'm sure drddan would like to have one too.

Because we never got carbed B6s, only Canada. And given the much lower population of CA, not too many gen1 323s would have been sold there anyway.

Maybe, I don't know. The engine has been sitting on a shelf for at least 3 years. I saw it a few months ago when I was looking for a b6. Ill look on google maps to find the name of it tonight. Its some weird Spanish name iirc.

I got one by buying one of those "low mileage" Japanese engines off eBay. When I switched to B8-ME, I sold some of my B6 parts. I think Festyboy may have gotten the intake along with the B6 engine. You might check with him and see if he would part with it. I'm not 100% sure he got it, but I think he did.
                          You gonna race that thing?

Putting a Weber on a EFI B3, is the same as putting a Weber on a Carb B3. They are the same engine! The B6 manifold would make a difference over the B3 manifold, though I doubt it would run as good as a straight EFI. The computer on an EFI adjusts for conditions while driving, the carb don't.

I still need to put my B6 intake on the '89. I got lucky with one of Brave's daily deals..
Curious, anyone know how much power it really adds?
