was wondering if there were alternatives to the stock 3 spd POS auto for the B-series engines, say like a 4 spd or 3 spd w/ OD?

There are 4-speed auto tranny from Japan....that is mated with the Mazda B5 DOHC.....good thing with this version is that it has a separate ECU for automatic control......problem is....how to raise the shift point....since it is electronically controlled and not Hydraulically controlled just like the F3A
There are also newer 4-speeds auto tranny version mated with a Mazda Z5 DOHC.....the bad thing is.....it is electronically controlled....and is integrated with the Engine ECU....no separate ECU. Unless you use the Auto tranny with the included engine.
What I want is a 4-speed Hydraulically controlled Mazda auto tranny.....I dont know if there is such a 4-speed hydraulic
If there are means on how to raise the shift point in a Mazda Electronically controlled auto tranny......I will try the 4-speed auto tranny of the Japan B5-DOHC(the one with separate ECU for auto tranny control)1st hybrid & running FE3 + GT3076R Turbo
...Carbon Kevlar Hood and Roof

Aspire automatics have a lower final drive for quicker takeoffs and a lockup torque convertor so you make for the top end mileage loss a bit.
From what I've heard, you'll need to use the Festiva front and rear ATX mounts on the Aspire ATX in a Festiva.
I plan to do this to Luxstiva as soon as I get a low miles Aspire ATX.
Karl'93GL "Prettystiva" ticking B3 and 5 speed, backup DD; full swaps in spring!
'91L "AquaMutt" my '91L; B6 swap/5 speed & Aspire brakes, DD/work car
'92L "Twinstiva" 5sp, salvage titled, waiting for repairs...
'93GL "Luxstiva," '94 B6 engine & ATX; needs overhauled
'89L "Muttstiva," now a storage bin, future trailer project

well i see where this might be an improvement on the Festy ATX, but i'm working with an Aspire ATX that won't lock up and the converter's stator isn't locking like it should so it feels like poo. the tranny is eventually coming out so i want to replace it with something better suited to the B3 for both acceleration and economy.Trees aren't kind to me...

lock up
the lock-up is only in 94 aspire...
95 and later are non lock-up.
ford replacement parts are non lock-up
non lock-up have more acceleration because of the torque multiplication
inside the torque converter and fuel economy is equal, on steady load the rpm just be the same and on full throttle you have improvement in power to the wheel ( a little bit higher rpm ). non lock-up wont stall engine in case of sticking of the clutch ( major problem in festy-aspire tranny )
for your info
