  • Serpentine belt swap from V belt

I have a 91 and would like to swap out to the serpentine belt. I have a 220 amp alternator and the V-belt does not hold.
I went to the junk yard and got the pulleys from a aspire. But i was unaware of the different crankshaft snout size.

After looking at the festiva, did i need to get the timing gear too?

If you have small nose crank engine then there is not much you can do but sand the shinny of the original pulley and put it back on . Im yet to find another that fits . But good luck
New build on the way .

well that sucks.... This is my plan.
I need to mill out the inner crank pulley flange and broach it to the right size keyway. This way it will fit on the timing belt gear. Then i may have to shim it. But other than that i don't see why it won't work.
I take it no one has done this.

There's no serp belt pulley available for the small nose engine. I'm pretty sure I've seen someone convert a large nose pulley to work on a small nose engine before, I believe it does need shimming, I'm not sure how much though. You may be able to make a simple adapter if the shim has to be thick enough.

You're right though, not too many people have done it
