  • Thoughts on first gen b6 in an 88 Festiva

Just got a good first gen b6 missing vaf/ecm from an auto Tracer

I do have a 92 parts car with efi harnes ,dash, tank, maf, and ecm (B3)

    OR

    I have a new/rebuilt escort carb,B3 intake,and dist.

Should I just get the rocket escort carb adapter Or B6 maf and ecm?

Looking for best combo for a DD commuting like 50 to 75 miles one way daily

You could try to hunt down a B6 carb intake from Canada.

Good luck with that! I looked for 3 yrs before I found one!

Ohh .... did I let that slip?! I have one, recently purchased from Eurotiva. I figure if I found one, it might be possible to find another, but like I said...good luck!

If you have the 92 car and harness, I would suggest you use the efi setup.

But, then again carbs make for a simple to install setup. You wont need all the electronics under the hood.

I have a Weber 32/36 mounted on a B6 in Cujo. It has the B3 intake. All vacuum lines and sensors gone, except to disty.

Switching to carb you would probably need to get a few things: Mechanical fuel pump for one, or a regulator to lower the fuel pressure. Carbs are 3-4 lbs, efi are 25? I think

BTW .... I cant wait till its warm enough to put on the B6 carb intake!!!! Mwhahahhaha!

The B6 intake has the same bolt pattern for the carb as the the B3 intake. Just in case you thought if you could find a B6 intake, you could direct bolt on an Escort carb. You would be disappointed.
        You gonna race that thing?

Since you have the F.I. parts car right there I would swap all the harness and fuel tank and lines to EFI. You have to pretty much take the whole car apart to do it, but you can take the time to clean and fix everything along the way. I'm doing an 88 right now. One difference that may not matter to you is that the 88 has no brackets for an air box, so you will have to drill some holes and mount some brackets or you could put a cone filter on it.
