    All ours are carby.

The only festivas that were fi here are the aspires.

That makes sense, since it was intended for the exhaust cam on a BP, the clocking is probably different.

I have no idea. I bought the motor from the junk yard to have the car running this summer to start getting a feel for the suspension and driving it. I have other plans for a long term power train (that's part of the reason I have a G series and a N/A b6). They said it had about 115K on it and I never pulled the head but I got the impression that someone had at least had the manifolds off before. Since I'm not planning on using it for to long I just slapped new gaskets on it and painted the block.

I think the problem is that the bolt pattern is mirrored over the engine center line. As in the bolts on the outside of the head are both higher than the ones on the inside of the head. Or at least this makes the most sense to me. Ultimately the fitment of the BP distributor may vary engine to engine depending on exactly were the holes are.

The ignition requirements for the b6d capri engine are so close to that of a b3 that it's a great fit (tuning wise) but the BP distributor bolts up, but may not be timed correctly. Since only 1 car is using this (to my knowledge) and that car isn't dialed in yet, it's too early to tell.

Only real input I have is that I was running a b6t with a bp disty on megasquirt. Couldn't get it to play nice with the b3 one. I should have a b6d running on b3 management with a bp
disty in a week or two.

What is better option when installing a B6D in place of a B3? Use existing festiva distributor or find a BP distributor?

    Which BP dizzy?
Aren't they electronic? As in no vacuum advance?
I'm curious as I'd love practice javelin with vacuum advance dizzys

That's great information! This makes the b6d swap even more of a simple plug and play deal. Thanks for checking that!

I have confirmed this. BP distributor bolts to b6d, plugs directly into the festiva harness and seems to cause 0 problems with the festiva ECU. I actually looked into it and the distributor is really only a magnetic pick up that tells the ECU the engine is turning.

We are trying to get a back to back Dyno comparison of the B3 management VS. Capri, but things have been getting in the way of getting the b6d/b3 swap finished. We have dyno results from Dragonhealers b6d/b3 swap. However, that isn't a good comparison. He had really low compression in one of the cylinders of that engine. He just tossed in a junk miata core engine to replace the b3 that grenaded on him, so that the car could be driven. Also, that car was an automatic. I think it still made like 90hp to the wheels though. I'll try to find the dyno sheets from that.

I used a 93 festiva harness saves most of the wiring. This method probably gives up a little performance but its the simplest.

I've gotten around 40mpg with my b6d on occasion, but mostly I'm in the mid 30's. I drive spirited wherever I go though, so it's pretty similar to a b3. The SOHC b6 may be a better choice for someone wanting to retain the stock b3 mileage. You can bolt all the b3 parts to the first generation b6 and simply have a slightly larger displacement.
