  • B8-ME AUTO to 5 Speed (TPS)

Needing to find out who has wired an automatic TPS connector to a standard (festiva) wiring harness.

    OR

Adapt a manual TPS to an auto throttle body.

I prefer to not have to wait for a manual protégé to come to the junkyard.

Auto TPS is a dual 0-5000 ohm resistor, stock Festiva ECU is looking to see a 3 position throttle switch, sensing idle, cruise and full throttle.
unfortunately they don't interchange worth doodly. Easiest fix is to swap throttle bodies complete.
Can you post a picture of what you have? I may have a complete unit to get you going

When I did my first swap on my '93GL auto, I had a B6 from an auto with the four pin TPS, so I grabbed a three pinner TB from a manual Protege B8 and used that. I enlarged my intake hole for the slightly larger TB and it worked fine.

So you could also use a manual three pin TB/TPS from a BP. Slightly larger, that's all. IIRC, the B8 and BP TBs are just five mm larger diameter from their immediately smaller cousins.
