  • Miata intake mani

My aluminum table saw blade was getting dull so I went to harbor freight and purchased their blade sharpener. Worked well. I cut this miata 1.6l intake in half to turn it into a festiva capable mani. uploadfromtaptalk1445726738183.jpguploadfromtaptalk1445726758184.jpguploadfromtaptalk1445726779417.jpg

    1.6?

What you planning? A bolt on flange for the top half of the Festiva stock piece?
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

It's going to be a one piece. With either an intercooler integrated. Or just an na piece. Center throttle body. Maybe facing straight up for direct entrance into the runners from the throttle opening

I may buy this intercooler and cut off the left side tank in this picture. Attach the core to the runners with a small plenum. So the throttle body would attach top right when looking at the engine. uploadfromtaptalk1445728383861.jpg

I can do custom throttle bodies attachments. In case someone wants a bigger throttle if they are running megasquirt

I think it'd be slick shoot to have an integrated intercooler, those end tanks would be awesome as distributing air, such a good taper. Maximal cfm.

Free hand router. Fitting a flush 1/4 inch plate over the circle. Welding from the top. uploadfromtaptalk1445737404353.jpg

mah plate. Not bad for a hole saw, and some router trimming. Now time for welding... Tomorrow.

Yep, looks like a good start.

Hopefully I can get this sand blasted this week, and get the throttle plate on. Could anyone tell me if the miata throttle body has the same bolt pattern as the b6d throttle body

It's a bigger bolt pattern. I wish it was the same.
                        Good work Brian!

I couldnt radius those ports like I wanted because they openings were on the curve. When I cut them the first time, I ate my weld up so I had to redo it. I'm thinking about redoing it and cutting the runner just a touch shorter to where the runner is straight. Is that going to kill low end torque like crazy? Maybe 2 inches longer than that manifold you sent me.

Make stacks for inside the plenum.

Alright. In my never ending quest for perfection, I cut that terrible plenum off and made a nice half inch plate to port radiuses in to. Now the intake will have beautiful straight runners and be tuned a touch higher than factory peak torque rpm because of the shorter runners. It's maybe 75 percent of the factory runner length. I also had the piece sand blasted. Welding tomorrow.
