  • opinions on a DIR 32 weber carb. conversion ?

Hi guys . Just after some opinions on a different weber.

In my quest to get rid of the stock carb on my B3 , I was given a weber 32DIR .

Even a second hand 32/36 is worth 350 bux , 450 if new down here.
The Aussie dollar sux so Ebay doesn't help.
I have a bike, I can deal with it if the weber isn't much better, just doesn't stall.

    The 32DIR was off a 1.3L , renault 12 , made from 1974 to 1976 putting out about 60hp.
It's a manual progressive twin barrel with 2 32mm throats and choke cable .
Google says they have 23 and 24mm fixed choke venturies.
Mine has 100 / 135 air correction jets . No idea about any of the other jet stuff etc because I don't
have any spare gaskets yet and don't want any leaks if it goes on before I can get some.

It uses the same base gasket as the 32/36 and i think it shares jets etc as well.
I have a spare inlet manifold that i'm welding on a piece of 1 inch plate to use as a manifold adaptor.
Going to drill twin 32mm holes in the adaptor plate to match the throats , but not join them to try to keep some velocity going.

I know the escort or 32/36 is the usual. But is this one way too small?
I don't know the specs on the stock one , mabey 28/32 ?
This one looks a little bigger ?
I'm guessing the 4mm diameter less of secondary will lessen top end a bit compared to the 32/36 ?

Any way , thanks for reading this long winded post .

    Any opinions would be apreciated.

I thought i wold get back to this thread and update some progress .

The 32 DIR went on to a spare manifold I got for 35 bux .

I TIGed on a adapter plate to the manifold.
The aluminium in the manifold was really full of fuel garbage , so the welds aren't great but are strong and leak free.

The manual choke cable went through the plastic rivet that holds on the panel next to the steering column and out through
    a firewall grommet.
A 3mm stainless bracket was made for the throttle cable and bolted onto the tappet cover.

It was running strong till last week when i got a new filter foam because the old one was falling apart . Now it needs
the choke on a little to stop it running a little rough occasionally . So i guess a rejet is in order to counter act the extra air its getting?

If you have any questions just ask .

Any way , here is a 2 shots I took on my phone of the B3 / 32 DIR combo in my 121.

    Hopefully it works .
