My in line automatic trans fluid filter arrived today.
Hot, humid and rainy this week. Hope it gets clear and a little cooler soon so I can get the transmission changed.
Nice! I tried to enter the companies website but couldnt find info about it. Does it give flow ratings, a beta ratio or micron rating for the filter? Hopefully there is more than just magnets in there

Their web page is at http://www.ntzfilter.com/
On the top (outlet side) it says Stainless Steel / Made in Canada.
According to the web site this one filters particles of 15 microns or larger. That's 0.000590551 inch.

Where did you get that filter?

It was in the mid 80's today and no rain. My grandson called this morning and asked if I wanted him to come help work on Rosie.
So he rode his bike over and was a big help to me getting the engine out and the transmission removed and the JY tarns mounted.
It's hanging on the cherry picker and ready to go back in.
I ordered a new automatic trans rear mount from fourgreen, so I'll drop it back in when it arrives.
What was your method of getting the converter bolts loose? I'm having a hard time with that.
After I got the assembly out of the car, I pulled off the cover plate and rotated the flex plate to get a bolt to the bottom. I then use a very large screwdriver wedged in the teeth to keep the flex plate from turning. Then I just used a 6 point 14 mm socket on a 1/2 ratchet to loosen the bolts.
Of course this is the third time I have removed the converter in the last few months so the bolts broke loose pretty easy.
Pulling the entire assembly out is definitely much easier than trying to remove just the transmission.
Found a Festiva that I can pull parts to convert Rosie to Manual. I will be going to pull the parts tomorrow.
Is there a list anywhere on the forum of everything I need?
OK been a while since I posted here.
Instead of just pulling the parts I needed from the 93 at the junk yard to convert Rosie to a 5 speed, I stripped everything off it.
Nothing left of it but the bare metal body, the windshield, the doors, the exhaust and muffler, the front and rear suspension, the bumpers, the brake calipers and lines, and the engine.
I have the following cleaned up, painted and installed in Rosie: The pedal assembly, the shifter linkage, the clutch cable, and the crossmember with rear trans support. The transmission is cleaned up and new output shaft seals installed.
I'm ordering new release lever bushings and oil seal from FourGreen (They are ridiculously expensive at the Mazda dealer.) so it will be a couple of week before I am ready to installed the transmission on the engine.
In case anyone is converting in the other direction. Manual to AT, I have all the parts you need to do that and they are in real nice condition, that is except for the transmission, which works OK except for the fact that I couldn't get it to shift into 3rd until it gets to about 55.
Not shifting to 3rd til 55 sounds like a vacuum modulator issue. Either the vacuum line wasn't hooked up or the modulator was bad.
Yea.. That's what I though. I put a new modulator on it and though it would solve the problem, but it didn't.
Could be something else simple like that; only 150k on the car. I just got tired of trying to figure it out, so switching to 5 speed.
And my new question.
I'm kinda a moron when it comes to A/T.
So where does the vacuum modulator go on these? (a pic would do wonders)
And would not having one cause the car to not engage gears? (see the second sentence)
Thanks for any help in advance.
