  • Upgrading the coil

In my BPT Festiva I'm still using the stock festiva coil. The Festiva shop manual says it's output is 20,000 volts. Should I be using a more powerful coil? I have one for the B6T, what's the b6t's rated voltage?

Anyone running a higher output coil?

What about using a 45,000 volt MSD coil like below?

That has got to help Matt.
I have seen a few here with MSD and Accel coils , they even make a coil that looks like a stock coil on the Festy , I think it is 50,000 v
I wonder if it would increase our mileage even more , with a more complete burn .??

Matt, did you install that coil??

        bk/wh = +
        y/r = -

I am assuming this is right?

haven't hooked one up to a bp harness yet..

              msd coil

i see nothing better with msd coil and-or mds 6a.
stock coil fire very well even in a bp turbo at 23 psi...

              put your money elsewhere...

at 32 bucks for only the coil...what is there to lose? 32 bucks.....you can't buy much else with that.

Great performance adder for complete fuel burn...hands down

I am running that one on my B6T,I added this when I was having a problem with my injectors.I also got the magne core 8 mm wires.I think it shoul make an improvement over the stock coil.
                      This video shows both items.
The sound from the lifters is now solved,It was just getting lubed with oil,I dont know how long this engine was sitting but its now running great!!!

Upgrading the coil shouldn't improve performance unless your old coil was bad. You might see a tiny drop in drag from the alternator, maybe a percent of a horsepower. If you're replacing the coil anyway, you might as well because the MSD is better quality and not much more expensive. I wouldn't replace a good coil though.
