  • B8 twin turbo

Look this is a long shot. And I'm not saying I would ever do it, but theoretically even if I wanted to get one turbocharged that's a nice balance so I'm not squealing my tires all the time. Let me know what you all think.

Finding small twins is a task if you want it drivable at all.

          B8 twin turbo

That would be cool, but with a single turbo that is properly sized for the B8 what rpm does it start spooling at? And what rpm does it reach full boost?

Twins? Why??? Single is proven more efficient.

If you're thinking sequential, why? You don't want to make tons of torque down low in these cars. Even if you manage to hook up, which is unlikely, you're putting tons of stress on the transmission. Which is plenty weak.

Yeah, twin turbo would be pointless on any of the engines that regularly go into a festiva.

They may say pointless, but I understand the struggle of wanting unique. The issue is finding small enough turbos. .9l displacement turbos are not common.

IHI VF18 was the "little" turbo used in the sequential turbo EJ20 in the late 90's JDM "twin turbo" Subaru Legacy.

The VF19 was the "big" turbo.

Apparently other versions of this engine used different VF turbo combos. Rated up to 280hp in a 2 liter engine.

A/B have primary VF25 for automatic transmission or VF26 for manual and secondary VF27 turbo's.
                  C have primary VF31 and secondary VF32 turbo's.
                  D have primary VF33 (46.5 / 35.4 mm 9-blade turbine wheel and a 47.0 mm / 35.4 mm 6 + 6 blade compressor) and secondary VF32 (exhaust side it uses a 46.5 / 35.4 mm 9-blade turbine wheel, teamed with a 52.5 / 36.6 mm 10-blade compressor wheel). All secondary turbos are ball bearing and primary turbos arejournal bearing.

I was thinking sequential, not twin per se.
What about those turbo sprints or fireflies? Didnt they have a 1.0L motor? Do people turbo smart cars? The diesel 1.0L smart car probably comes with one. Then theres a ton of motorcycle and snowmobile turbos in the .8-1.4L range

I always wanted to do 9b twins from the 3000gt vr4. But they are kinda crappy, outdated things by now.

Why must everyone use different units when labeling airflow on compressor maps. Lb/min is so simple. But kg/sec. Wtf
