323 swap, years?

I'm going to look at some 323's tomorrow in an attempt to get a b6 swap. In Advancedynamix info thread he only mentions the years 86-89 and only has the b6t labelled. Did the 323 never come with a straight b6?

1.6 L (1,597 cc) B6 — (78.0x83.6 mm) — This was a bored-out version of the B3. The 16-valve SOHC B6 was found in the 1985-1989 and 1990-1994 Mazda 323,1991-1993 Mazda MX-3 the 1987-1990 Mercury Tracer, and the 1985-1990 Ford Laser. The 16-valve DOHC B6 was also found in the 1994-1998 Ford Laser KJ/KL, 1997-2004 Kia Sephia, Kia Shuma, 2000-2004 Kia Spectra and 2000-2005 Kia Rio (for export markets).

thanks, as far as im aware the 1st gen 8v 323's were a direct plug and play with 91 festiva, all i need is the 323's engine. the mani's, alt, harness etc from the festiva work, correct?

Is this the same for the 90-94 8v's and the 16 valve sohc?

also should i grab the ecu from the 323 or will the stock one work fine?

look at the base model 91-94 mercury capri. its 1.6 dohc as well.

mercury capri's seem pretty much non existent around me. also as i will be starting my trip driving across canada in a few weeks i decided to go sohc for now just for ease.

just dont know the details of the swap as ive only researched dohc's. tried searching and found a number of people saying its "plug and play" but no details other then that.

86 to 88 Mazda 323 is a drop in. You will have to use the B3 dizzy and flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate. The B6 ECU has to be used. It's the two plug not the three plug in if it's a manual trans. I've down two of them and it's easy!!!
