I've got a 1990 1300 carry I've decided I really like the little beast but what cheap and easy diy mods can I do to get more power wouldn't mind doing some grass racing in it and still use it daily so nothing drastic

Motor swap to get power!
You work around that tho. Set the car up to never have to slow down is the key with the festiva. The DIY suspension from advanced will get you the ability to go pedal to the floor until the checkered waves. The kit is super easy to put together with just hand tools. I have even done a bolt for bolt how to on it. Look for that thread in the suspension section. I have about 300$ in my suspension once all non used parts were sold. 500$ in the deal before i resold anything. Add in a better set of front brakes and you have a track machine. Tires will make a huge difference. Get some actual tires on it and you will love it.
The festiva is soft from the factory. It makes highways feel sketchy at speeds. Once you swap a few parts around and get a stiffer car it simply comes to life.1990 (LUCIFER 2.0) fully built BP+T with E153, Fueltech FT500, traction control with hopes of 600hp (i drank to much of the KOOL-AID)

Hunt down a cam for it, given your location, units from the mother land (J-pan), and the Philippines should be available. Next, upgrade the exhaust manifold and rest of the lot to 45-50mm pipe. You can also bump the base timing 6-8*. Then pull the head and rid yourself of the exhaust runner shelf. Last would be upgrade the carb and tune tune tune!!!Trees aren't kind to me...

Reduce your unsprung wheel weight - it will make speeding up and slowing down quicker.
IE: Lighter and taller rims, with narrow sidewalls
RATIONALE:
Steel weighs more than aluminium, and rubber weighs more then both.
~But preserve the overall tire and wheel height.
If less rubber is spinning on the outside, and the rims are lighter than steel, it's an advantaqe
2) Look for someone who can weld you up a better exhaust header
3) Consider the carby and intake. A pair of weber or solex duals might work better.
4) I've heard B6 heads will mate to that block, but was told it would have it's advantages late in the RPM range. That's a 4V head and has far better flow (That's not changing the engine - just part of it)
5) A turbo would make the greatest difference, but mind the strength of your rods and the compression ratio

B6 heads will fit (loose compression unless shaved A LOT) and are 2v and require piston face and bore modifications to clear the larger valves. The B6D and B6me heads will NOT fit (both being 4v configurations).Trees aren't kind to me...
