  • Ecoboost motor 1.5

Hi all wanted to share, and im sure some of u already realize this, but my buddy just bought a 2017 fusion with the 1.5 eco boost 4 cylinder! This car is huge to have just a 1.5 and a turbo it does have some turbo lag but it will get goin....just cant believe this thing only has .2 more displacement than r B3s and yes it has a turbo but it is just blowing my mind that this car has such a small powerplant...makes me think a motor swap would be awesome..a little tough but anything is possible. Now i have an idea why all u guys love the b6 and the b6t what a difference that would make in r little cars....guess i need to start savin up my coins for a future b6 swap! My wife and I are contemplation a big move..possibly moving out of this crappy state of IL and goin across the border to KY! If we do my drivin will be on the I24 interstate and not two lane backroads so a motor upgrade would be needed so i think a b6 is somewhere in the cards for me...talk at yall later

Indiana is not to bad! KY is ok as well. I have quite the selection of b6t stuff. And when my buggy sells i will be selling all my b6 stuff. I will be all bp in the future.

But yes a bit more power really wakes these cars up a lot. William has a b6 and that car is straight fun to drive and ride in.

Unfortunately IN is too far for me to stay at my work and keep the same drive but IN is nice also. My cash flow right now is not good mainly due to my lovely property taxes that r due! Thanks IL for having such high taxes I am soo fed up with this state! I tell ya. That 5spd is still goin good thanks again!

The new F150's have 2.7l Ecoboost engines. Try to wrap your head around that one. I drive highways all the time in my Festiva with the stock engine and just once in a blue moon do I wish I had more power. Usually, because of some other jackass driver and I would probably get in more trouble if it did have a turbo engine.

Engine swaps are great but I agree with eagle, I drove my b3 car on the interstate all the time no issues.
When I drove it threw the mountins I would sometimes find my self in 3rd gear but other then that it was great and cant beat the mpgs. If I was looking at an ecoboost swap it would be the 1.0 3 cyl I think it would be easier to fit between the frame rails.

I have run up and down the interstate with the b3 and it being carbed it just takes me a long time to get up to speed...(i have it tuned for mpg)...i could rejet and see what that does...not sayin the Steve wont do it just thinking if i had a little more power would make traveling the interstate a little easier....just realized i said a little more power! Who doesnt want that! I can hear Tim the toolman Taylors voice right now LOL!!!

yeah I can say that after driving my car with the b3 for two years and then getting the bp it is hard not to speed sometimes! I used to have to floor it just to keep speed, now I have to be gentle on the gas!

Sounds like you also drive it for mpg
My efi b3 did 17.9 sec on the 1/4 mile, that fusion is supposed to do it in 16.8 sec. Thats 'only' one second difference.
On hills if you want to go up fast or if you want to speed up fast on the flat you just gotta downshift and floor it. Same with the fusion ecoboost, if you drive it easy your slow but get good milage, if you drive a small displacement turbo motor fast you dont get what the epa says you will.... lol.
But, 181hp in a 3440 pound car is 19.1 pounds per hp.
To get an 1800 pound festiva to match that you need 94hp.
However an efi n/a b6 that makes 85hp will probably feel just as fast driving normally since the fusion needs to get the turbo working to make that power.

With the diesel- would it be legal to ship one over here with the wiring harness and install it in a car? How does that work?

It's done with JDM engines all the time. But with the diesel, you'll want the trans to match.

Whether or not it's legal in your jurisdiction is a separate issue!

That would be me. Orders a diesel engine and harness and while its being shipped across the ocean i go: lets see, gas job revvs at 2600rpm at 60mph, diesel redline is 2600rpm.... wait a second.... lol.

Ryan, machine a planetary gear set between the crank and flywheel. That will increase the input shaft speed of the trans to emulate a 6000 rpm redline...

Hey all quick check of the ole ebay and i found the 1.0L and trans to the new fiestas for around 1500 combined...now this is not all u would need but just thought it was interesting how available these motors really were and not too extreme of a price

it would be best to buy a wrecked Fiesta so you have the harness and all the other crap they need nowadays to run.
