  • Will a 4.39 final drive transmission fit onto a ....

Will a MX-3, Ford Probe or Kia Sephia transmission with a 4.39 final drive ratio directly fit / bolt-on to a stock B-3 Festiva block?

Will the transmission directly fit / bolt-on to a B-6 block?

Will any 4.11 or 4.39 final drive gears bolt into a B-3 transmission case?

Does anyone make high numerical gears (4.39, 4.77) for a B-3 trans?

    Thanks!

You can't use a G series diff in an E series trans if that's what you're asking.

If you're sticking to an E series trans your only option is the aspire trans...it's a 4.05 vs the 3.77 in the Festiva. The aspire trans is known to be weaker though.

The v6 trans has a different bolt pattern than the B engine transmissions. You can swap diffs between a v6 G series and a 4 cyl G series though. Why would you want such a low ratio though?

        For drag racing.

For a strong launch and keeping the rpm's up during the entire run (requires a fairly close ration gear box)

Just before you enter the "eyes" you want to be at maximum engine rpm in your final gear.

You can also effect a "low ratio" by using small diameter tires (which I may just have to end up doing - cheaper and fast to do)

I have to look it back up, but there is a G trans with 4.11 gears and is pretty close ratio.

I've been thinking of using a B-3 engine instead of my BP engine - more as something different than anything else.

Yeah, an Escort GT G series has the 4.11 diff. I think the Kia trans does too.
Any lower gear than that I think you'll peg out 4th before the traps, though I don't know how fast your car is gonna be.

There are MT slicks available in 20" and 22". If you're not going big power the 20's would probably be good. Though there have been a couple guys running 11-12 second passes that wish they had the 22's.

I definitely wouldn't want to run anything less than a G series if you're serious about racing.
