Thanks Brad, the 3.85 is plenty low enough for me. I drove the Capri 1,300 miles on the interstate to get it home and I didn't like seeing the high rpm's it was turning. I know it doesn't hurt anything to run 4,000 rpm's all day but why? I even bought a 5th gear set out of a Protege for the G transmission. The speed limits are 75 out here on the interstates and the average traffic is around 85. BTW when I worked in Columbus Ohio a couple of years back I found myself running 85 to keep up with the traffic on I 71. That being said I will be purchasing the G transmission out of the salvage yard B6T Capri. One more question : with the hydraulic clutch transmission is the slave cylinder and throw out bearing one integrated assembly gotta take the transmission out to fix a bad slave cylinder or is it old school slave cylinder on the outside of the transmission?

Trans out of the Capri XR2 is a cable trans unless someone’s changed it.

Hello Jerry, yes the B6/G transmission is a cable. I was wondering about a BP/G transmission. Brad said they were hydraulic. Like I had asked, can anyone tell me if they use old school external slave cylinder or are they of the slave cylinder integral with the throwout bearing?

Yes they are hydraulic but I don't know anything about the hydraulic setup.

And yeah for a street driven car that 3.85 final drive is best. However the 5th gear swap you want is from the 88-92 Probe/MX6/626 with the non-turbo 2.2, .71:1 vs .79 in the Capri. Not sure what the Protege ratio is.

There bolted to the outside. There's a hydro to cable conversion sold by the festiva store if you plan on using the hydro trans. If you use the Capri trans you'll want an adapter plater to bolt the jack shaft to the BP . Also sold by the festiva store.

I am planning on grabbing the following from the salvage yard XR2 : transmission, no way of knowing if it's good but @ $99 I will take the chance, drive axles @ $8 each, jackshaft (I hear these are becoming extinct) and jackshaft bracket/plate. Will the B6 jackshaft bracket work on a BP engine? Also saw at least 3 fairly complete Aspires. Does anyone know if manual Aspire axles are a direct fit to a Festiva with E transmission? I know these questions have been asked and answered on here numerous times however I have not had good luck using the search engine. If anyone can post the protocol for narrowing my searches I promise to write them down and keep the information near my computer. I know it involves using symbols like between words such as +, " ", etc. Thank you in advance.

Im pretty sure the Aspire axels are too long for the festive. The BP block is longer then the b6d/t so holes are to far forward and I believe a slightly different pattern. There's an adapter plate that the festive store sells that will fix this problem.
When your at the yard get the flywheel too! You'll need it, the BP g flywheel is different.

Thanks William. I will measure the axles out of the '93 that's waiting for the B6T. I have the Capri axles for it. I will pull the Aspire axles and do some comparing before I buy them. Like I had mentioned I am sure the information is on the forum, it seems like I have a hard time finding things because I do not know the exact protocol to filter search results to the most pertinent threads. Can anyone offer some advice on this. I know it's a matter of typing a symbol between the words. Be it a +, quotation marks, etc. Any help would be appreciated. For example when I type in compatibility of Aspire axles with Festiva I get several hundred threads. Most of them have nothing to do with my request. Perhaps this question should be posted in a different area.
