  • How did you MOD your AWD?

I am in the planning process of a project car (starting with an 88 L carb 4 speed) and I am trying to come up with some sort of a shopping list. So far I am looking for a donor 323 with AWD and either a b6t or bpt. (I have a feeling that I will find a b6t before a bpt.) Anyways, I wanted to know how the rest of you successfully modded your cars with AWD. Did you use the 323 or is there something better?

I have been looking for some kind of a walk-through or pictures but it seems to either be a well guarded secret or there's just not enough people interested  I am very interested and would love to see pictures if any of you have any. I will say that some of the cars on here are absolutely amazing (and the videos have been quite impressive) and the information being shared on this sight has been extremely educational. I have been crawling this forum for about a week and I know I have just scratched the surface.

    Thanks All

The only one I know of used a Nissan sunny gtir. Look in the complex engine swap area.
It's a good thing you don't read the stickies, you might of learned something.Poverty produces creativity

      Welcome to the board.
This is the only AWD Festiva I'm aware of. It's the one with a Nissan engine that Muscle Car was talking about .

So maybe you can be the first to put a Mazda AWD in.
I have thought about it, I think you would need the whole AWD 323 to make it work.

        Wow that was insane!

It did answer a few of my questions but then again it raised so many more. I think your right though, I think I do want to try the 323 and see if I can get that to work. Thanks for the link and Evo if you have any more pictures of the rear end assembly I would be very interested in seeing them.

I believe Mextiva also has an AWD car. If you do and you have any pictures feel free to post them.

        Anyone else?

        Thanks

the one thing you mentioned about easier to find a b6t before bpt, the bpt was never offered in any north american cars, the motors are imported from japan
              here's the link http://www.jdmsource.ca/v2/product.asp?ID=35
and if you wanted to do an AWD conversion the mazda 323 GTX would probably be the best for compatability,it also came with a b6t, i beleive anyway, but it is a rare car to find

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Thanks Damkid. I'm planning on scouring the junkyards to see if I can find the rare 323 gtx. If I'm lucky it will have 2 good axles a motor and a few other gifts. I'm a patient man so this may be a long term kind of project. I am hoping no longer than 3 years but we will see what destiny has in store

In the down time I will probably strip the car and start working on some sort of frame/roll cage.

Thanks for the info and the link.

BTW I really like your hood.
