OK i have a mega flow cone air filter? what all do i have to do to get it work... If this was already covered let me know i tried to look but if its there i guess i didn't look good enough.
There are a few ways to do it. You'll need to unbolt the airbox from the MAF and the bolt on an adapter for the cone filter. You may be able to find the adapter on ebay, look for one for a mazda. I read somewhere that a BMW 3 series fits also? You could also make your own if your handy. Here is mine:
Matt Since you live in Ohio as well, Would this help me pass the e-check.. Either way. would you be interested in making that adapter for a few extra bucks?. I'm handy but i don't have any of the machinery i need to do that.
you do know that you can just go to the Pep Boys and buy that thing for like $9.95 and it looks professional. I was pissed off when I saw it too cause I built one a few years back and then they started selling them.
That sucks. I looked at autozone and advance auto parts and couldn't find one. I have $5 and a few hours in mine, milling the plate, welding, then bondo the weld and then paint. I'd have forked over $10 for one.
I'm sure it will. Not sure if that filter is anything good. It says it is washable. When it gets dirty I would replace it with a K&N filter. Just go to the K&N site and search by size till you find a filter that fits your needs.
I don't want that filter, Actually i already have one i got form auto zone... looks really nice.. i might just use the filter that comes with it for extra... like a spare.. thanks.. ill let you guys know how it works
These guys have a point when it comes to these adapters..
"Both kits utilize trick cast aluminum adapters to provide a smooth transition from the air filter's round output to your airflow meter's rectangular input. Paying close attention to this transition is a key feature which sets Reich intakes apart from the rest. Typical filter adapters use a 'hack job' approach, simply welding a round tube on to a flat plate with a rectangular hole cut into it. This causes immense amounts of turbulence, which results in resonances in the intake tract that disrupt air flow and cause a very peaky response. Although a much more expensive part, the performanec increase offered by this adapter is well worth the added cost."
can i asked a favor to anybody who has clear pics on the installed con-air type air filter on their festive using the adaptor that mattswabb suggested.
@mattswabb
