1996 Ford Contour Motor

Hi. There is one for sale locally (50 bucks) so I am wondering if it will go in my '88 Festy without major chop-shop work?

not without major reworking of axles and mounting, plus rewiring...

so in otherwords, unless you want to spend alot of time and money and know how to weld... no

the contour is a ford motor while the festiva is all mazda design.

Isn't the contour a 2.2l? if so, yeah its not a easy swap

contour

same engine as the 2.0 zetec focus and vct on the contour.

2.0 but not the same as a focus, the blocks are different than the focus and the zx2 escort is different from them. (looked it up at the escort forums)

minor difference

contour have different oil filter adapter , different head ( vct ) and many things but it is the same family of engine.

The 95 contour is desirable because it doesn't have the VCT, which breaks quite often, according to owners of the newer zetec engines.

Not true, the later Contours have VCT.
