  • catylatic converters. tricks to make them flow

I was just wondering if any one here has any tricks to make them flow better. Some ppl say dump some kerosene in them and set it on fire burn out the insides and put them back on and they will flow like straight pipe. any tricks you guys know of?

Either get a new one or knock out all the honeycomb stuff in the old one.

a good clean cat will flow, oddly enough, better than if you kock out the core... when you do that you cause all kinds of turbulent air and more back presure.
remove/repalce with a strieght pipe or keep a good clean cat, "fixing" it will create problems.
you can also buy full flow cats that are designed to flow better than a standard cat.

but many will dispute that factiod.

do a search, we discussed this already. A hollowed cat will cause more restriction at higher rpm than a good cat, but a piece of straight pipe will out flow both, but lessen your low-end torque. Basic fluid dynamics.
