will the bp throttle body work on the aspire b3 motor.

I don't think so. I've had both off and they are different. Maybe make an adapter plate?

Is there a list of the different throttlebodies and what intakes they fit? I know the NA capri throttle would fit onto a festy intake because I'm using my festy throttle on the capri intake for now.

i know the TB on the NA FI B3 is different from the TB on my NA B6, but i was wondering about using a BP TB instead... but couldn't come across any good info on the different TB's for the B-series engine.... if anyone has that kind of info i'm sure many would appreciate it!

I am running a BP throttle body on my NA B6 fi ... from a 5spd 93 escort LX.

Make sure that if you have a 5spd festy you use a 5spd TB, same goes for auto, if you have an auto festy, use an auto TB.

From 1993 to 95 escorts or equivelent ...

          Hope this helps ...

what about the intake manifold? Will a bp, or bpt manifold fit on a B3, or even a B6T?

Every car I have owned has had a turbo in it, until I bought this latest festiva.. I plan to fix that though.

For my B6 swap into my ATX Festiva, I couldn't use the "ATX" TB that came with my B6 engine. I had to get a '91 Protege 5 speed TB and then the plugs matched up. The important thing is that the number of prongs in the TB plugs match. Some have three, others have four. I forget which is which.

To clarify, I'm talking about the plugs connecting the TPS with the wiring harness. I just don't like removing the TPSs from the TBs, so I swapped the whole Protege TB.

The Festiva ATX has no electronics/ECU issues which discriminate between MTX and ATX TBs. You do have one vac line coming off the ATX though, which needs to be connected.

Nope because the BP has a longer block and therefore the intake ports are spaced a little farther apart and even if they weren't they are shaped differently too. BP throttle body should be able to be used with the B3 using some kind of adapter plate like matt said, but the manifold itsfelf wouldn't swap... even the later b6 sohc manifolds (90 and up) don't fit the B3, at least not the two I've tried. The only manifolds I know of that interchange is between the B3 and the 88-89 B6s. As for TBs I haven't played with them too much, but I do know that when I did my B6 swap (from an '89 N/A 323) I tried to use the festy TB on the B6 manifold, and I found out that one or the other (can't remember which was which, its been a while) but one motor had the coolant fittings on the TB, the other one had them on the manifold. I think the B3 had them on the manifold and the B6 had them on the TB, because I think I remember putting it together and realizing that I had abosolutely no place to hook up the coolant lines... not a good thing!

Just noticed this, Karl, did you get your protege TB from a BP or a B8 SOHC protege? I was poking around at the yard looking for a B8 SOHC motor and the TBs looked the same between the BP and B8. If thats true then by some geometry rule (that I've long ago forgotten the name of) then the BP TB which is the same as the B8 SOHC TB which mates up to the B6, which in turn mates up to the B3, then you should be able to use a BP TB on any of those motors. Unless your B6 was a 90 and up one with the intake going toward the drivers side instead of over the top of the VC, is that the motor you are running?

My B6 was out of a '94 323, so it's the later motor. I took my TB off a B8-ME Protege, not a BP. My TB is supposed to be about 5mm larger diameter than the B6 TB, and the BP TB is supposed to be 10mm larger diameter than the B6 TB.

I'll be using the larger BP TB on my next (5 speed) B6 swap.

Those are for keeping the TB from icing and sticking.. Since I live in Texas, I hacked them off..

^^^ oh, so I guess I could have just used that TB and just not had any coolant lines then since I'm in GA and we don't get cold here either... I was wondering what those lines accomplished anyway, I thought maybe that was mazda's token attempt to cool the intake air since they obviously used brilliant engineering ingenuity to direct incoming air directly over the exhaust manifold... I though maybe the coolant lines were their way of saying "oops that was dumb, we'll try to cool it off again"
