i was searching the advance auto parts website the other day and i noticed the festiva alt. was a 50 amp. then i checked on the alt. for a mazda 323 and it was a 65 amp. so my question is could i buy the 323 alt and put it in my festiva? it is basically the same engine i thought but bigger. let me know what u think. also it was a 90 323 into a 90 festiva.
    thanks

You'll lose horsepower if your not running the bigger engine. a 100amp takes 5 horsepower. so you'll be losing about less than 1 horse, but i'd rather keep the horse, but thats just me.

Who runs around needing 100amp all the time.
Alternator only puts out what you need at the time.

Most mazda cars 88 thru 96 with 4cly engines use the same alternator just higher or lower amperage.
