  • Mechanical fuel pump on B6

Will a mechanical fuel pump work with a EFI B6?

I heard something about there being a difference in pressure between an electronic and a mechanical fuel pump.

The mechanical pump is designed to put out only about 4 or 5 pounds of pressure (for the carb) while the EFI engine needs 36 pounds of pressure. So the answer is no - a mechanical won't work. If you don't want to use the "in tank" fuel pump, you can always get a high pressure "stand alone" electric fuel pump for your fuel injection.
    You gonna race that thing?

I don't think there is anywhere to mount a mechanical fuel pump on the B6 anyway.

I have a B6 from 1988, and it has a cover where the mechanical fuel pump would be if it had one.

Perhaps your B6 is the newer style that didn't have the cover? I know there are a few differences between the '80s and '90s B6's.

            Ah, so!

Yep, I have two 1994 B6s. One in Lux, one in the garage awaiting it's next assignment.
