  • b3 + NOS

I have afew questions for all those people with NOS experience

    1. What HP shot do u recommend or use in your festiva
    2. Hav you experienced overheating or other adverse effects
    3. How much NOS have you used in a night of driving wihtout suffering engine damage

I basically want to see what sorta quantities of NOS people have been running. I wanna know how far i can push a stock B3 engine (intake + pod + exhaust are the only mods done) without blowing it up or anything.

Any insight or experience would be greatly appreciated and listened to

My cousin used to build for Terry Walters (NHRA). He now owns Thrasher speed and marine. He has built lots of engines and has used nitrous on many of them. He has NEVER blown an engine. What he does is finds out the max you can use and then backs it off a bit. I don't know how much it could handle, but when you find out just back off of that amount.

I dont se how a 50hp shot could hurt a motor. I'm going spray 50 an top the boost.

um....because that effectively doubles the HP of the engine.

I don't even think our injectors could spray that much fuel. You'd go super lean.....and then BOOM!

You should never blow up an engine from inadequate amount of fuel if you are using a wet kit because the fuel solenoid supplies the extra amount of fuel your car needs......And your injectors should never max out the duty cycle. If one is clogged then you may be in trouble. There are fuel pressure safety switches, WOT switch, and progressive controllers that make nitrous the easiest/cheapest power added to run on your car. Upgrading your fuel pump would be a pretty good idea also.

I have ran a 75 shot on a stock hyundai accent 1.6 dohc alpha motor all year long with no ill effects....I'll be spraying the same amount in my Bp sohc at the end of this month when i retrieve the kit from my hyundai which is sitting in Missouri. I'll bet money that with a nice set of slicks I'll be dipping into the 13's easy!! June 30th is the festiva's debut at the California Speedway where i will get my time slip so i can be labeled 1 of the 10 fastest festivas on this sight.

And if you spray a 50 shot you should recieve 50 hp at the flywheel on any kit except NX kit because they rate their kits at the wheels....

I only trust the NX name. And I will never run a dry setup.

Sounds like some people know what they are talking about. Take it easy on the transmission.

ive just never been a fan of the spray, good for putting down times, but just not there all the time for on the street...

to each their own though i guess... maybe someday if i come across a setup someone is selling i might buy it just for kicks... but i wouldnt buy a new one

Once you go spray...you won't have it any other way!! I am pretty much an all-motor man myself...never really fond of turbo setups because it's just more things to worry about breaking down. Plus the add of oil lines and water line if equiped on turbo. Turbo vehicles are never really "that relyable" unless they are factory tuned turbo cars. I'ts a debate all in itself turbo/NA/nitrous....but like you said each to their own, everyone has their opinions. Which i am not knocking. Nitrous is great because you dont have to use it all the time like turbo/SC.....although it truely is addicting and can be expensive on fill-ups after a while.

Just watched that video of the metro with a 100 shot put on it......that what happens when idiots install a nitrous kit. Even with the air cleaner assembly on there they didn't leave enough room for the nitrous to atomize with the fuel, thus resulting in nitrous backfire. Who puts a efi kit on a carbed car anyways, and increase the fuel jeting??? I bet 70 percent of the fuel was going to the nitrous kit and 30 percent was going to the carb. By the way the car looked on the outside, i can assure you they didn't change the fuel pump or regap the plugs colder. With a 100 shot on anything you should retard your timing 2-3 degrees. That's the only thing i fear in my system when i put it on the BP festiva is that the bottom end tank cap on the radiator will blow off due pressure increase. That's why I'm switching to 3 core aluminum. Brought to you by RPM....Retard Proned Mechnics.
