  • B3 & T3 turbo, what's needed?

I am new here, wanted to say hi first.

What I have is a 91 festiva gl, 114k miles, automatic tranny, and stock engine. I have a good used t3 turbo at the shop and I was needing to know what all I will need to install it? Like fuel pump, fmu, injectors, VAF?--anything needed to make it run properly. I have already all the hot parts I will need to install, like oil lines, exhaust, turbo flanges. Also it will be non-intercooled, just hot air.

I am not going for big power, just a little fun with the BOV maybe 4-8psi.

    Thanks,
    Mikey

t3 is completly over sized for a little 1.3 liter motor. You would need to upgrade all your fuel system, run some form of engine management because there is no way the festiva vaf meter would work, it would open fully at 1/4 throttle.

Best bet is to swap in a turbo'd motor, B6T and BPT are the norms around here for turbo engine swaps, you can swap in a BP and turbo it, but that is a lot of work.

Every car I have owned has had a turbo in it, until I bought this latest festiva.. I plan to fix that though.

I have a tb03, would this be better suited? or is it about the same size?

I had read somewhere on here about someone "blowing through" thier vaf with a turbo, I could be wrong though.

What do you mean the vaf will open all the way at 1/4 throttle? Does this mean too rich of a condition or what?

          Thanks for the replys,
          Mikey

No the extra air from that oversized turbo will blow open the vaf at only 1/4 throttle, causing the ecu to get a faulty reading. Not to mention other probs
