  • Sloppy Shifter

Festiva has a short shifter installed (Pacesetter), the throw is fine... But I can move the shifter about 2-3" from side to side while it's in gear.

Any suggestions on where to check? Loose bolt maybe? Or do I need the new bushings I've seen floating around?

I used bushings from hinges for like a van door. They are in the help section at Autozone. I have also seen them at Napa.

Sounds like the bushings on the stabilizer bar are bad. I grabbed some off a '96 Aspire and everything was fine afterward.

From looking at the rest of the car, my guess is that it was a ghetto install on the short shifter too... I'll check out those bushings and hopefully it fixed the problem.
