  • new (used :D) steering wheel

Got a wheel from a '96 626 today. I took out the airbag module cause I have no use for it and the yard would try to charge me $50 for it anyway. I do still have the cruise control buttons on it though, and I'm thinking of trying to retrofit them to perform some useful function... maybe volume control for the radio since I drive in traffic a lot and I try to be respectful with my music when people are around but I still like rocking out when I'm flying down the road by myself. We'll see. But the main reason I got it is because its so comfy compared to the toothpick sized rock hard festiva wheel. This one is actually a decent thickness with ample cushion.

    No festiva for me ATM...

I have a similar wheel and was looking at trying to use the cruise buttons, they are the same as yours. Let me know if you figure the out.

Sweet! Looks good. Does the color of the wheel match the interior?

^^^ not really... i found one that did, but this one was closest to black that I could find in decent condition (the black ones seem to get brittle and flake off a lot). And since I'm switching over to black/silver on the interior I wanted the darkest one I could find. Makes a world of difference in how it feels to drive the car... feels much more like a real car now instead of a giant go-kart ... oh and kev, I only made it about halfway back up 400 before the wheel became too tempting and I had to pull over on the side of the road and install it for the rest of the drive home

I was wondering how you got a pic of it in the daylight.

I have my eye on this one.

Thats a sharp one all you would have to do is ava a pice of leather embossed that says festiva then just fit it into the horn button

Those Miata wheels also came in the 323s. Plentiful at the boneyards! I had one, but I found it put the wheel too far forward, and everytime I turned the car I'd either turn on the high beams, or the wipers.

Id like to get a wheel like that and rig the bag to go off as part of an anti theft system. Like maybe when the system is armed if any wires are cut in the steering column, the bag goes off
