if its like the sunpro tach i had, the white goes to a light source....splice to the dimmer switch or dash lights or something. Red is some sort of a power source. black just ground it to the chassis. Green gets spliced into the coil wire I believe.
yes green does go to the coil, you should see a yellow/green wire comming off the coil splice into that. black like said is to ground, if you splice the white wire into the red/white wire comming out of your dimmer your tach should dim as well, and the red should go to hot in "run" sorce, Make sure that you dont go to a 12V constant, doing so will allow your tach to drain your battery when the motor is of and the tach is showing no RPM
I just pulled mine apart last night the white wire must go to the green/red comming out of the dimmer, And the tach is not dimmable(I will be rewiring my lighting circuit to fix this and making a custom light plug) I never dim my lights so . . . plus my tach is Red. Now . . . For the power wire (RED), I wired mine to one of the spare plugs behind the radio, just use a test light or a multimeter to find a "hot in run" wire, you dont need tach power when the key is off because your motor wont be on. The tach will recive power through the light circuit when you turn your lights on, Make sure you have a good ground (Mine is grounded to a stud in the fire wall) if you loose your ground at night the tach stays lit but the needle doesnt move ( I accidentally cliped the wrong wire one day, so when I fired the motor up and turned on the lights I lost my Tach)
