  • Aftermarket Temp Gauge Install?

Has anyone here installed an aftermarket temp Guage? I got one for free so I decided to wire it up. I got everything hooked up....but for some reason every time I turn they key on it jump straight to the max it can go...so obviously something is wrong....I used the temp sensor that was in the box....the guy who gave it to me lost the instructions for it though...there is only 3 wires....red(power), black(ground), and a terminal for the temp sensor wire....any ideas? I have the red going to power and the black going to ground and the temp sensor wire going to the temp sensor that it came with that is now on the water hose outlet. Any ideas what I am getting a reading of 240 degrees F, every time i turn they key?

Make sure that you have a good enough ground. That's usually the case I've found with gauges without a good ground (one time I had my tranny ground come off, all my sensors were screwed up until I got it hooked back up...)

It was actually the temp sender wire. I ran another wire from at the exact same time as the one I had previously hooked up and it works fine. There must be a break in the wire somewhere I can't see......oh well at least it works now. Thanks,
