I'm getting ready to paint the Ltd an considering some custom paint on the festiva as well. I'm looking for any tips and tricks as well as general knowledge about using spray guns and real paint. I'm a very experienced rattle can technician with three cars and a variety of other custom paint projects under my belt but this is my first attempt at using a compressor and air gun. Any information would be greatly appreciated, i ran a search but didn't find much. The spray gun i'm using is a siphon feed air gun (40-60 psi operating pressure) with a 1.8mm spray nozzle. Thanks

the little painting experience I have tells me your gun is good for high-viscosity primer. A 1.8 nozzle is too big for most color paint, unless you want to do alot of wet sanding to remove the orangepeel. I bought a cheap HVLP gravity gun from Harbor Freight with both 1.5 and 1.3 nozzles, and it lays down color very nicely.Jim DeAngelis

I just got home from work and I posted this from my phone at work after running the search function a couple times and getting no results... apparently my phone is not able to properly execute the search function which is why I didn't find anything... sorry bout this...No festiva for me ATM...

Naw you can lay out flat paint with a 1.8 needle i do it everyday at my job. I use a devilbiss gun and pressure pot though...resembles a suction feed system pretty much. My pressure on the pot is 22psi and 75psi at the gun. I'll have to take a picture of the cabs i paint sometime. But for conventional eurathane base bc/cc i would honestly use a needle bewteen 1.3-1.4. Make sure your overlap is even have good gun control as in movement speed and distance away from the surface being painted. You should be alright.---------------------------------------------------
