golf-cart festiva

Well guys here is what I have completed so far. This wouldn't have been possible without the generosity of Hatchbk- thanks Joseph!

I still have to put the engine and transmission in, but the body is done in Ultimate linings, a high pressure bed liner material.

I cut behind the door so you could get in the back seat without tipping the front seat forward. I then welded in that section and the front fender openings (the ones that you see when you open your doors). This was my first welding experience with thin metal. I welded in the tailgate and made a very heavy duty platform, you could sit on it. You can get to the storage area from tipping the seat back.

I painted the engine compartment all black- just waiting to put the engine in!

I still am going to add a center roll bar and then a bracket that slips in the rear receiver (now on the front of the car to use to tow it) that will hold golf clubs

I am also going to have the seats recovered in tan. I used the brackets from the bucket seats and welded them to the bottom of a dodge dakota seat.

The hub caps came from Ebay (19.00) and we sprayed them with liner also

I'm looking for any ideas... someone suggested making a golf ball into a hood ornament..

Do you think they will allow you to drive it on the golf course ?

not sure, I don't golf anyway... many of my neighbors have golf carts that they have made street legal, but they only go 30 mph- so I thought I would go the other way and make a car into a golf cart... I didn't have the money to buy a golf cart so this is my alternative. I traded a pistol for the 88 festiva, and Hatchbk gave me his "old blue" when he put the B6 engine that was in it into his silver festy. It was a great trip from Michigan to Georgia and meeting him and his family! I towed the car home on a boat trailer- it sure looked funny that high in the air!

Thanks Carbonvmax- I wouldn't have been able to do it with out hatchbk's generosity and all the help and encouragement and knowledge from this message board! I still have a long way to go-- I've never done any engine type work and I am switching from a fuel injected 93 to a 88 carbed engine..

^ Joseph is a pretty good guy ! Ive got a golf ball about the size of a softball somewhere that would make a good hood ornament. A canopy top would be nice too, and a place to strap in your clubs on the back. Just for some golf cart realism. Maybe a ball, tee, and score card holder on the dash somewhere. :idea: How about a seven wood head for a shifter knob ??

if its a 5 spd, drill a hole in the bottom of a golf ball and thread/force it on. works good on my lawn mower and mini bike. that is what im doing to my festiva when i get it

Thanks guys! I like the prop ideas. What I am thinking about is making an attachment that goes in the receiver hitch that will hold 2 sets of golf club bags (like on some golf carts) and then finding some old bags and clubs at a garage sale.
