Well guys here is what I have completed so far. This wouldn't have been possible without the generosity of Hatchbk- thanks Joseph!
I still have to put the engine and transmission in, but the body is done in Ultimate linings, a high pressure bed liner material.
I cut behind the door so you could get in the back seat without tipping the front seat forward. I then welded in that section and the front fender openings (the ones that you see when you open your doors). This was my first welding experience with thin metal. I welded in the tailgate and made a very heavy duty platform, you could sit on it. You can get to the storage area from tipping the seat back.
I painted the engine compartment all black- just waiting to put the engine in!
I still am going to add a center roll bar and then a bracket that slips in the rear receiver (now on the front of the car to use to tow it) that will hold golf clubs
I am also going to have the seats recovered in tan. I used the brackets from the bucket seats and welded them to the bottom of a dodge dakota seat.
The hub caps came from Ebay (19.00) and we sprayed them with liner also
