i've been over the glazing section of the "blue" book ( the one they hand out when you take the course) and there's no numbers listed (book from '05).... and i've seen darker than 35% on minivans STOCK (after the front doors) and darker than 70% on other new cars in the front.

if there are more laws pertaining to this, then i reffer to your research but...

I think some of you guys have some of this backwards... The percentage is of light transmission, ie., 35% of source light transmitted. 35% would be darker then 70%. Just trying to clarify for those who may be confused.

in ontario as long as you can see in the front windows from the outside, the cops will leave you alone and usually 15% - 20%

a good friend of mine used to have a 88 Bonneville, it was maroon and the paint looked like crap, he put a set of 14" chrome rims on it, we tinted it 2.5% on the rear and 20% on the front, walking up to the front of the car looking in we could not see the people who were sitting in the back seat, it actually looked like an old gangster car :lol:

looking at the map, if those are the state laws now in force, why then (PA for example) does it NOT specify this in the inspection handbook?

i'm confused, it's like a double standard. you can have tint, but you can't.

As for vans and trucks, they have different standards (as set by table X), pre-98 vehicles have different standards too.

All of my cars have been tinted between 35% going as low as 15%. The first Festiva I had I believe I went 15% in the rear and 35% up front and it looked stupid... So when I did the next one, I did 15% all around. I drove the car like that for 3 years without any problems, except for 1 cop who seemed to have a problem with it (and he was pulling EVERYONE over).

As dam said... As long as you can see inside the car, it's usually not a problem, unless you've got some high-strung cop trying to push his powers.
