  • body kit

i was in my neighbours yard and saw this bumper off of his sons old civic race car. i picked it up and thought holy poop half my work is done
i have wanted to make a body kit for a festiva for a long time now and was going to make to out of fiber glass, but now im just going to cut it down the center and shorten it, lay some fiber glass on the back and a thin layer on the front, then some bondo then im done

the first photo is what it looked like when i started. then i hacked out the middle and smoothed out the bumps.

You used that to cut the plastic?! I cant think of what its called. Im just impressed at how smooth it came out. I mean I realize with enough fiberglass and bondo you could smooth anything, but still.

You will probably want a little more than just glass and bodo holding the cut plastic together. I'd suggest some sort of brace in addition. You won't see anything on the back.

If it were already a fiberglass bumper, you may be alright with just glass and bondo, but I have a feeling that it will flex and crack.
