  • Painted hubcaps?

    ok well i want something simple done to my car and this is astart

    1st off how do i get the hubcaps off (do they just pop off?)

    2nd, should i just coat it with black spraypaint or housepaint lol?

    yes real silly but projects have to start somewhere.

    Use you tire bar to pop them off. Spray paint would be you best bet. The sell spray paint specifically for plastic.

        but the hubcaps arent plastic, theyre metal. unless your talking about big hubcaps... i'm talking about the little centercaps.

          No matter what you are painting, if you want it to last you should scuff it up with some medium grit sandpaper. Be careful if you are doing plastic as sanding too hard will leave visible marks. If you want single stage paint that looks ok you can just get some enamel spray paint, it's sold under Rustoleum in the states as well as several generic brands. If you really want it to last on there, after scuffing it up you should put on some primer. It will just help the paint adhere better and be less prone to flaking or otherwise coming off. A good self-etching primer followed by a couple of properly cured coats of enamel will last a long time. Don't use house paint.

            i thought you had alloy wheels? http://www.fordfestiva.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16074 if those are your wheels, they arent hub caps, unless like Geezer said your talking about the center caps.
