like sewing your own covers? buy a bunch of upholstery books and get a machine, buy some upholstery materials and practice practice practice. Might end up costing as much as paying someone to do it for you which is A LOT! $400-600 for just the front seats is a typical price.

I've seen people who took off their stock covers, carefully took the stitches out of each panel and cut out templates and sewed together some new covers, but a machine is still recommended. Won't turn out professional looking but it won't look bad

A sewing maching! I'm sure your mom has one

Since you'll probably be dealing with thick fabrics, you may have a hard time with a regular machine so test it first. If you're using really thick materials like leather, get a pro to do the job..

This is how I've done covers for my living room armchairs. You could never tell these were added on covers. And you don`t destroy your current seats in the process

        1) Carefully measure your actual seat, i.e. all the different sections of fabrics you'll need.

        2) Make full size templates out of paper. I used unprinted newpaper.

        3) Add an inch all around for sewing allowance

        4) Figure out how many yards of fabric you'll need. Fabrics come in different widths, you'll need 3 to 4 yds per seat

        5) Sew together by hand. This sewing can be crappy, since you'll take it off later

        6) Try it on the seat upside down (with the seams on the outside)

        7) Adjust all the seams so you get a real tight fit

        8) To take it off you may need to open up one of the seams. A back side seam is a good place

        9) Sew by machine and take off the hand stitching.

        10) Put in place and close up the opened up seam with good hand stiching

        Voilà

Bribe your mom well and hope she has a heavy duty machine. And be sure you use a good heavy duty thread. Don't just buy the cheap crap from Wal-Mart otherwise your stitches won't hold. And good luck!

dang it now i need to figure out how to bribe my mom to do this since my idea of sewing is staples... she did a seat on a motorcycle for me but it was nothing tight fitting and you could tell it was an add on... Maybe if I get it all ready I can get her to sew it for me... MAYBE
