  • Kia Pride Headlight Swap & More

Finally got around to taking some pictures of the mods that I've done this winter...

They include a 98 Kia Pride headlight swap. I sourced the headlights and grille from a guy out near Philly, who purchased them off Roger at FMS. At $150, they were hard to pass up. With the help of rolla and our source from overseas, I added in the headlight filler panels underneath the headlight/parking light. And I have an actual set of corner lights that match up with the hedlights, but I'm trying to see if I can get a set of fenders to match, or I have to cut my fenders up to fit them correctly (they're slightly longer on the side).

A set of ribbed tails from rolla... And I ripped out the 323 GTX seats that were welded into the car and I mounted them on a regular set of Festiva sliders. I'm going to rip them out as soon as I get a racin seats, which should be shortly.

    Pictures are at http://www.pimptiva.com/?page_id=40&g2_itemId=6058

Oh... Some of the stuff needs to be painted. I'm thinking that I might just rattlecan the bodykit for the time being so that it dones't look so ghetto. Just not in a hurry for that yet.

Dam - Yup... I built my first in 2002, it didn't even last through the winter. Then the 2nd one got lost right after I swapped in a B6 with Wil (GroHarlem)'s help.

Both accidents were because of black ice. The first one was my mom's fault (and she still feels bad for it)... I lounged around ALL day, didn't do anything. She asked me to go to the store for cabbage and along the way, I hit a spot of black ice in a corner, lost it and hit a telephone pole. It wasn't terrible, but bad enough to total the car...

The 2nd accident was a little worse. The girlfriend was in the car with me at the time. We left her place to head to mine. We had ordered food from a little shop in my town and we were going to pick it up. That same day, it got really warm and melted some snow and was just getting to the freezing mark outside. We crested a hill to go down the other side (from around a corner) to see some little old lady's car against the guard rail, her back end was out into the road. I hit my brakes to stop and hit black ice, went sideways and slid right down to her. The car stopped before hitting her, but a pickup truck that was following me couldn't stop. He plowed into the passenger side and knocked my car around so that I was facking up the hill and the back bumper of my car was resting on the old ladys car. On another note, there was a Mustang on the other side of the road that had also wrecked in a seperate accident. Both the girlfriend and I turned out ok... We were transported to the hospital to be checked out, but the car was totaled as you can see. Luckily enough, she didn't have her seat belt on or she would've been pinned in the seat.

I was really up in the air after the last accident if I wanted to rebuild or not... And decided to go ALL out.

Anyways - glad you enjoyed the gallery.

Max - I'm thinking that I'll keep it white. I like the color on the car, plus it keeps the name of "Casper" in tact.

elcamino - It's the FMS fiberglass hood. It's held down with 4 pins and I've removed the hinges and everything. I had bad luck with hinges and this hood before, so I just took them off.
