No need to get upset. I was wondering why just the hood. But at least your doing the whole car one color eventually.
Did you want the whole car flat black?, if so you can get a flat clear, (as weird as that sounds) that will protect the primer from getting trashed without making it all shiny like a normal clear.

Oh, and spend the $15 or whatever it is and invest in a decent shop manual or at least a Haynes. They will always be helpfull even if only as a starting off point.

And taking off the hood is pretty simple. I believe it's just the bolts on the hinges and make sure you've disconnected your washer fluid line.

Make sure to mark on the hood where the hinges were before removal. Nothing looks worse than crooked, mis-aligned panels.

          lol.........

yah well all one color eventually but for now just the hood, i like the ghetto look lol.

so just sand it down, then primer, probably 3-4 layers , and flat clear like you said....

          if im missing something lmk.

and how to take the hood off.

so sanding, the layout the primer , then flat clear......

                Look at this thread

Might want to try a roller paint job using a flat black. A few here have done it and many on the Honda forum have.

if the paint on the hood isn't rusty or flaking, you really don't need to take it down to bare metal. Just have to sand it a little to rough it up. Yeah, then do as many light coats of primer as you want until it looks decent. wet sand/polish out any annying runs, dust, streaks and give it the clear. And the underside shouldn't be a very big deal.

At the top of the page there is a how to paint sticky. Very good information and lots of it there.

There are 4 10mm bolts holding it on. Have a friend on the other side so that you're not scratching up the cowl after you remove the bolts...

if you have te money consider taking it or renting a sand blaster then spraying the underside of the hood as well.

never sand blast, it warps the metal. do walnut blasting or gem blasting.

I saw something on tv once where they were using ( I think) something like small plastic BB's, anybody know about these? Not trying to hijack the thread mind you, I will never be a body guy, just trying to expand the options if possible.
