has anyone done a successful HID headlight swap. You know, the super bright white lights that opposing traffic hates. I am going to try putting HID bulbs in the stock headlight assembly

EVOGun did a custom set of HID headlights on his car. They looked pretty sweet, but that wasn't using the stock hedlight assembly.

i know they make kits for HID conversions, maybe ones available for the festiva?

      1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
      1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

I got mine from e-bay too, it just the 9004/8000k Conversion kits, if you want Hi-Beam you need to look for the Bi-Xenon if not it will be just the Lo-Beam. Also should order extra replace bulbs, i have one go out after about 5 months.

Adding an HID bulb to a non-HID housing is dangerous... It's been talked about before on here and I know I've seen it beat to death on other forums. You blind people because the light doesn't self adjust when you hit bumps, go up/down, etc...

I'm all for the looks of HID lights... But I don't want to be constantly blinding people either.

I have Hid's in my protege 5 the only way to truly do a successful hid swap on one of these cars would be to put a set of projector in them... if not your blinding people because of poor stock cut off line... the only thing to help if you put in hids is to install or paint on a set of eyelids to reduce upper glare... thats what i had to do. looks great now and i don't blind people...

Also if your hid bulbs go out within a year of buying them, then you have a problem with a ballest... also you have to dissable DRLs
Wait what kinda car is that!!! Oh yeah thats a ASPIRE

If you decide to pull the trigger on those a write up would be good if you get positive results. Of course we'd like to know if they turn into flaming balls as well. :blob6:

the more you go up the colour temp the less visible light you have... 4300k is stock colour, stock bulb... the most pure and closest to white you will get is 5000k... from there you start to loose acutual lumins and then you start to see the colour light.... 6k is you light blue, 8k is sky blue, 10 is aqua blue then on to your purlple and pinks...

Also just replacing your stock bulbs with "8500k" bulbs isnt gonna work ... there just gonna be regular bulbs painted with a coating to give it a colour affect...
I have done tons of reseach on HID's within the last year... look for something with a warrenty, hopefully lifetime like I have, that way you know your getting a good product and the company will back it up

Yes, please don't just put HID in with out projectors. You be screwing over everyone who you drive towards. They are illegal as well. I used DOT approved projectors they have a sharp cut off line and also have a lower cut off for the drivers side, stops glare on on coming traffic.

Yes they look good and you can see really well even in fog or heavy rain.

                        Thanks
