Just to clarify a little more... My initial post was from the iPhone.
I'm looking for the thread pattern (or pitch?) for the shifter assembly... The universal knob mounting solutions never work for me and always come loose in less than a day or so.
In my Jeep, I found a nut that was threaded properly for the shifter assembly, grinded it down to the point where it was very snug in the universal knob, pushed it inside as much as possible and then secured it there with the 3 screws that you'd use for the "universal mount"...
Hopefully someone can help before the hardware store closes.
go to the jy and get a shift knob that threads on (now for the fun part) smash it with a hammer then out comes a little pice of metal that threads on to your shift knob, then you go home and smash it in to the bottom of a pool ball then you have a cool shift knob
btw... make shure you hide the smashed shift knob under the back seat or somthing so the jy man dose not yell at you lol

Tunner - I tried this before with my old shifter in the Festiva and it didn't really work that well... At least, not like the setup I have in my Jeep anyways.
Got the bolt, got it down to size, but I got it a little too small and it still rattled loose. Stopped by my uncles on the way home from getting some bolts today for my seats and got his shifter knob. Didn't bust it apart like sasq suggested above, but cut the plastic away and then sanded the plastic pieces away until it fit inside my knob. Secured it in and I don't think it'll be coming loose anytime soon!
Haha... Maybe I just wasn't hitting it hard enough. At any rate, it took me an extra 10 minutes to get what I needed to fit, and I guess that's all that matters.
Man, 1.25 mm is an odd thread pitch! 1.00 is common as is 1.50. I took a stab (not having read this thread first... DOH!) using a 7-16 x 20 (SAE) tap on my home-made shifter knob. It was close but the major diameter was a bit too large. A few wraps of Teflon plumber's tape and it was secure though. Glad I now KNOW the proper diameter & pitch! Thanks guys!
Focustiva: Because I was told it was was impossible to fit a Focus bumper on a Festiva. In memory of Dean Allen - V8 Festiva 1955-2010
