  • homemade body kit??

i've been looking into making a body kit. i've sketched some thing up and was wondering how i should do it. reading through other chats i've got a couple ideas that would help me like buying another bumper and forming chicken wire over it the way i want to shape it. then putting papermashay over it for a more sturdy base to put the fiberglass on. fiberglass is the problem though. i've never worked with it. i've heard that it is strips like news paper in papermashay. so do i just make the base and put the strips on after i lather them up in resin? if so where can i get the resin and fiber glass strips?? Thanks for the help

I thought of that too...But after reading a few magazine article, it seems the best way it to tape the area of the body you'll be working on, then applying urethane foam, let it cure, then carve and sculpt it to the shape you want, then apply a couple coats of fiberglass (I'd suggest woven fiberglass) and then take it off (that's where the tape pays off; the fiberglass should come off with the tape instead of sticking to the paint) trim it, sand it, put filler, sand, and then bond it to the body (I don't know which adhesive would be best though) and paint...
The left lane? Are you crazy!!! I never drive in the left lane...It's full of freaks driving the wrong way and charging right at you!!!

Use that green foam they have in craft stores like micheals and glue it too your bumper....a spare because you will ruin this one. Then take a abgle grinder with a ro-lock 80 grit pad and shape away. Once you have achieved the look you are after lay fiber glass over it and make the mold.
