Tinting

I want to tint my windows, but I have never done tinting before. Any pointers or kits that are cheap. I want to do like 2.5% on the rear windows and 20% or 50% on the fronts. Illinois doesn't allow tinting on the front windows, but I figure if I go light it'll be ok.

Whatever you do check your local and state laws. Nothing worse than getting pulled over for having your tint too dark. There are a couple of pre cut kits on Ebay, but I cant speak for their quality. As for putting it in , theres gotta be some How-tos out there. Do a Google search.

darkest i'd go on the front is 35, 50 is probobly a better choice especially if your not supposed to tint the front. 2.5 would be very dark on the back, i have 20 on my rear three and like it (keep in mind if you do the fronts it will make the rear look darker as well), but if 2.5 is OK in illinois then I guess thats up to you.

when i did mine i used tint from autozone and just googled for howto's, there are plenty of them out there. It was my first time and i was 16, just take your time and you'll be alright.

i have 20% all around and its great. i can still see out of the windows just fine, and i havent been pulled over...yet (knocks on wood).

well i think ill go 50 on the front, but i really want to go dark on the rear, i might do 5 instead of 2.5. once the car is painted and the rims are cleaned up i just want the windows to look real good with the rest of the car. im all about making the body look good, after i get the motor runnin right of course. htchbck is sendin me a ECU, hopefully it fixes the problem and then i can get to work on the body of the car. thanks for the help guys.

This is what I'll tell you -

I have 5% limo tint on the three rears and 20% on the front I've gotten a ticket twice for tinted windows - if you have it you are liable for it - if you buy a car that has factory tint you are liable for it. So if you want it be prepared to pay the fine with it if a cop gives you a ticket for it.

Make sure you have 2 side mirrors if you tint the back window or you may get an obstructed vison ticket.

Saying this I will tell you that I only get the ticket if they cant find something else wrong and both times has been by a state cop on the interstate.

well then i might just go lighter on the back than 5%, i know i want to tint the back windows, no im unsure about doin the front ones, i just think itll look better with tints on it
