It looks ok....but I would want to make the airbag work and the cruise control. Now the RX7 wheel I saw the other day would be really awesome in your car...with the tan interior....It is tan and 3 spoke....positioned at 9,3 and 6...very nice!

            nice sticker!!
i think i'm with genevadirt, i'd want to make everything work if i had that. although you could probably cut the cruise stuff off and it would be good. i like the 2nd gen rx7 wheel. one of my friends has a 2nd gen, and it looks great! power mirror switch is exactly the same too in case anybody was wondering.

I've thought about swapping over the sensors and computer for the Aspire to get airbags since the seating and dash spacing is virtually the same.

EWWW who wants airbags?? Thats what seat belts are for... I for one can not believe that airbags are mandatory and wish the government would get its too-large nose out of our business, if people want to be dumb and not wear their seat belts properly, they can pay the extra for having airbags or they can just die, no loss to those of us who are smarter.

                oh well, </rant mode>...

I call the 1st Gen airbags "assault style." They were overpowered in order to protect those who DIDN'T wear their belts. Thus, those of us who did wear seatbelts got too much oomph. This was not corrected until the advent of the 2nd Gen airbags, which not all cars got until 2000.

We also got passive restraints ("half-passive" in our cars). People who hate seatbelts simply unhook them. Those of us who appreciate well designed belts got screwed.

The gov't really is too heavy handed in safety issues. Instead of investigating how to encourage more seatbelt use, and spurring the development of better seatbelt designs, they decided to go with the hi-tech, more expensive airbag route. That's fine for folks with money, but not fine for folks who appreciate simplicity, thrift and lightweight.

Another recent downside of airbags is the problem of damaged, questionable, or fake airbag units. Some car repair schemes replace the bags with trash or fabric. The covers are pieced back together or replaced with new vinyl. Corrupt shops can save money this way. How are you gonna check this without taking apart the system?

On the other hand, seatbelts can be more easily examined and checked for operation. On passenger sensitive belts, simply tug on them. On vehicle sensitive belts, you'll have to tap your brakes and lean forward.

One other huge misjudgement the gov't performed was waiting until recently to require the standardization of child seat attachments. This has been needed for a long time, but has only recently been passed as law. Many parents do not properly install their child seats, or have trouble swapping seats from car to car.

Again, the gov't's hardheadedness in pursueing the most expensive, high-tech "answers" to safety issues at the expense of more simple, commonsense improvements has taken lives and has directly gone against cost and mileage improvements, IMO.

All the most advanced, multiple airbag and crashproofing technology doesn't mean much to a poor person who can only afford an old car.

I believe gov't legislators are some of the least capable of judging practical safety issues.
