Today, I stripped out the dash and heater. Windshield wipers, motor and linkage. Stock seat belts and all hardware. Front and rear bumpers ,and all lights, and associated wiring. Plus anything else that wasn't welded down!! LOL

I also straightened the core support and took off the fenders for replacement or straightening..

It's ALMOST ready to go back together!! It's so light it's amazing!! Compared to what it weighed ready to race, I figure it is about 1250 pounds right now, and I will have to put about 150 pounds back in for cage and etc... SO... I figure 1400 pounds in race trim... MAYBE..

I still have to pull the gas tank and a couple of other things...

Plus, I converted the front to studs... so I have studs all the way round now... nice.

      NOT MUCH LEFT!!! LOL

      360 pounds worth!!

          Forgot the muffler........

I would put a 90 bend in right before the right rear tire. At least 15 lbs in my opinion.

Yep.... here is an E-Mod Miata...

But, it WILL actually have a tiny, roadster style frameless windshield... more on that later... (lexan)

                        Wow... That looks amazing.

Any thoughts of chopping out the spare tire area? I know that area weighs pretty much, if you would cut it out and replace with something thin enough... You're going to cage it anyways, so it doesn't need to be supported there.

I like the look without the fenders. Not sure what your rules say, but I'd go without them if you can.

you CAN, sort of.. the rules actually say the car has to be "recognizable" at the original, to run in D Mod.. Some say the roof being missing is too much.. but mostly they don't really care... LOL..

I will run the fenders though.. I want it to look like a Festy...

I thought about cutting out the spare tire depression, but I also thought about having a fuel cell made to fit it.....

Today, I started gutting the wiring some more... I found out it doesn't need the "computer" to run, at all..

I removed the signal and wiper control assembly, and the rear seat supports (just drilled out the spot welds)

I hit a snag at rewiring the fan though.. it was on a switch before, and worked fine.. but I can't seem to be able to figure it out now.. I might have cut out a relay or something.... I will try to direct wire it... it's strange, it isn't just a hot and a ground?????

                          Anyone know????

How about a wiring diagram? anyone?? it's a 89 manual...

No, the doors have to operate to satisfy the rules....

I am waiting for the tube bender and notcher to come to start the cage...

I hope this thing turns out!!!
