im goin to be painting my car realy flat black. nothing special. just the spray paint camo black. i have a frankenstien interior as it is and i want to go with a black theme inside. look stupid with a black interior and white exterior. im not goin to do the stripping and all that for the paint. dont care how it looks as far as dings and dents that i already have. just goin to change the color a bit. and as far as the interior...instead of re-upholstering the seats, anyone think of using a black t-shirt dye? my seats are perfect as far as stiching and no tears but they have a few minor dirt stains. im thinkin it will work except the vinyl areas...anyone know what to do there? is their any vinyl spray paint?

yup there is a vinyl spray paint, and it's also supposed to work on fabric. i wouldn't go with the rit t-shirt dye, it'll bleed all over your clothes every time your clothes are wet from the rain. your also supposed to boil the fabric in the dye on the stove for best pigmentation, so you would have to pull all the hogrings and remove the seat covers to dye them. i'd try the spray stuff, they sell it at walmart or any autozone or o'reileys

Don't use vinyl spray paint on your seats. I had a friend do it on his leather 2002 Accord seats and he screwd them up, horribly.

Get seat covers, have them reupholstered or just buy a cheap set of racing seats (you can get them off EBay for under $400 shipped and customer brackets will cost less than $100)

lol thats $500 i don't think he wants to spend...try the $5 paint, if it comes out crappy then go to walmart and spend $20 on a set of bucket seat covers.

And waste the $5 on paint... Trust me, it's not a good idea. Hard pieces, like the dash, panels, etc are ok to paint, as long as they have the correct prep work. Seats are squishy material that will move, bend, fold, etc and the paint is not going to hold up.

ya, when it comes to spray paint i will waste the extra money. learned that in the past. il experiment on my front seats as they are easiest to fix with a cover, if i like what i see il do the back seats. il take some pics before and after to show everyone my tragedy or triumph.
