  • Installed new euro tail lights

Just installed new tail lights today. They look good. Took a ride and when I got home I notice the red running light on the drivers side was out. I tap on the lens and it came on.(Not sure what this is about, maybe loose wire or bulb) Anyway when I tap the lens it was hot, but
the passenger side wasn't. Any ideas why it would be hot?

Yeah, I think it was a bad bulb. I checked it out and the bulb was black. I replaced the bulb and as far as I know its ok. If you have a set of these I suggest you change all the bulbs, and don't use the bulb sockets, wiring,or connecting plug. They are of poor quality. The original ones on your car are better. I'm not sure though if the original bulb sockets will lock into these lenses. I haven't switch the originals yet. I'm no sure but, I think you can take the back part of the lenses off, there are 4 or 6 small phillips screws on the back side. If the bulb sockets and the holes don't lock, I might be able to mount the original backs to the new ones so the bulbs will lock into place. I'll try it this weekend. Don't get me wrong, I do like the lenses. Its just that some after market parts are not made as good as the originals.

^^ummmm if you put the original backs on....wouldn't the lights mount in the wrong places then?

I did the exact same thing. I plugged my euro tails in with the harnesses that came installed? And 1 of the bulbs burnt up as soon as I turned them on.

I ripped out the harnesses and "fit" the OEM ones back in.

You'll have to do some trimming. It's easier to do it on the harness itself than the lens. Compare the crap harness to your OEM one and see what pieces need cut or trimmed. I used my little dremmel and it worked great. (I also had another set that I used the dremmel on the housing itself... That worked, except it got all sorts of crap in the lens and was a pain to clean out)...

GD - No... The OEM harnesses will work. It's just sorted out a little different than the stock lights. Also - The euro lights do not have the extra bottom running light (runs a little 194 bulb), so you'll have to either remove the bulb or cut the wires out of the harness.
