  • Hatch light install

So I got a hatch light from a Escort wagon awhile back and just got around to wiring it. I decided I wanted a latch switch, but can never find one. SO I'll make my own. I started by pulling the latch out and comparing it to the pic in my shop manual. I took a blue eyelet connector and ripped off the insulation, then bent it at a 90 degree angle

Then I pressed it onto the latch arm that moves inward when you open the latch. Pressed right in like a roll pin, very snug

This will be the ground for the latch switch. By the time I got to this point I needed to got to RadioShack to get the contact for the wire side, but alas, it is Sunday and they were closed. So I grabbed the ground wire intended for this very purpose

And ran a ground jump to the third light ground (stole that trick from Freshtiva)

    And then they was light

I am going to finish the latch switch on Weds or Thurs, depending on when I have time. I will post a complete write-up w/pics then. Wish me luck.
